Chat GPT- How reliable is it for Maintenance Operations?
In this article I will be looking at AI in maintenance. In particular, how reliable Chat GPT may be as a data source for maintenance operations.
There is a lot of talk around AI and how it can revolutionise certain industries.
In this article we will be challenging chat GPT on key topics where it claims to be able to help.
Based upon the response generated we will challenge Chat GPT to see how accurate and useful the information provided actually is.

Conclusion
On the surface the information provided by chat GPT seems to be ok, however a few key notes to take away from this:
- Chat GPT (the free version) only has access to information up to September 2021. As we know legislation is continually changing and therefore the information provided could be outdated and therefore should not be relied on to ensure compliance.
- The information provided is only as good as the questions asked. You need to structure your questions specifically to get the information required. Otherwise, you will end up with vague, uninformative answers. Essentially you need to know what you are looking for and have a good grasp of the detailed questions you need to be asking.
- Although it can provide some useful information, it is never going to be able to carry out the compliance checks for you (just yet anyway). So, we are safe for now.
